The Goat Race is run on the same day as the Mountain Man multi sport event, and traverses the legendary Croesus Crossing track from Barrytown to Blackball. This is a 25km long mountain trail running race and is an individual pursuit event, open to anyone over the age of 14.
The track has a long history dating back to the late 1860's when gold was first discovered on the West Coast. It has a total accent of 1054 metres and has a maximum elevation of 1201 metres. The Paparoa Range trail remains a popular walking track and has had an extensive upgrade over the past couple of years.
