One Woman's Midlife Journey to Ultrarunning

Trail Runner Mag talks to Molly Sheridan about picking up running later in life (she was a 48 year old non-athlete who "couldn't imagine running to the end of the block"), why 50-milers are more fun than marathons, and her plans to run in Antarctica. Read the article here.

What to do in the first 5 minutes after a long run

A long run has the uncanny ability to strip away your self-doubts, boost your self-esteem, and make you feel accomplished for completing what most people can't. It's a wonderful feeling; that elation is a major reason why we continue to run and pursue longer distances, and faster finish times. But what happens what you're done with your long run? Active.com answers that question here.

RunFest on October 23rd

RunFest in Wellington on October 23rd is a series of running workshops, talks and a coming together of the running community. Speakers include New Zealand Trail Runner editor Vera Alves (aka Super Generic Girl) who will be talking about the lazy person's guide to long distance running, and Paul Charteris of Tarawera Ultra fame talking about how he first conceived of the race and how it has grown. Find out about RunFest here.

Hundreds Of Mountaineers Climb The Alps For Epic Photoshoot

This isn't really running related, but I had to share it because the photos are just so amazing. To celebrate the 150th anniversary of the first ascent of the Matterhorn ridge in the Alps, Mammut, a Swiss mountaineering equipment company, asked photographer Robert Bösch to take a special photo to mark the occasion for the brand's 2015 ad campaign. A team of mountain climbers ascended the Matterhorn's Hörnli ridge and lit bright red lights that, at dawn, illuminated the path taken to make the first successful ascent. Check the photo and others out here.
