Football - Double injury blow rocks Owls

Football - Double injury blow rocks Owls
Sheffield Wednesday have been dealt a double blow after it was confirmed skipper Glenn Loovens has fractured his ankle and striker Will Keane has damaged knee ligaments.

Central defender Loovens will be sidelined for between six and eight weeks, while Keane, on loan from Manchester United, is awaiting scan results after sustaining the injury in Saturday's goalless home draw against Brighton.

Owls boss Stuart Gray told the club's official website: "It's a blow, of course it is. Glenn has had a scan and it's a fractured bone on the ankle.

"He's wearing a boot now and we're looking at six to eight weeks."

Keane, 22, has scored one goal in five appearances since arriving from Old Trafford last month.

Gray added: "Will picked up what looks like a medial ligament injury.

"He left the ground in a brace and we'll see what the scan shows."
